Brik, one of ten children, was born and raised in Abu Snan in northern Israel. He earned a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and an M.Sc. in Chemistry from the Technion.
He completed his Ph.D. studies through a joint program between the Technion and The Scripps Research Institute, focusing on the chemical synthesis of proteins, under the supervision of Prof. Ehud Keinan and Prof. Philip Dawson.

In 2001, Brik continued his postdoctoral research at The Scripps Research Institute under the supervision of Prof. Chi-Huey Wong, and in 2004 he was promoted to the position of Senior Researcher. During this period, he developed methods for the synthesis of glycoproteins.
Brik was also involved in research projects focused on the discovery of inhibitors of various enzymes, including the HIV protease.
In 2007, he joined the Department of Chemistry at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2011 and to Full Professor in 2012.
In 2014, Brik moved to the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, where he holds the Jordan and Irene Tark Chair.

Brik has co-authored more than 120 scientific publications in leading journals, including Science, Nature Chemistry, Nature Chemical Biology, Nature Protocols, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie, Chemical Society Reviews, and Chemical Science, among others.
He also serves on the advisory and editorial boards of several scientific journals, including ChemBioChem, Cell Chemical Biology, and Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry.
The research conducted by the Brik Group is supported by numerous funding bodies, including the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 program, which awarded him a prestigious ERC Advanced Grant.
